Blueberry Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi)
$24.99
Blueberry Neocaridina (Neocaridina davidi) are beginner-friendly shrimp prized for their striking deep blue coloration and ease of breeding. Hardy and adaptable to varied water conditions, they're captivating to observe as they forage and interact throughout your tank.
These shrimp reproduce naturally in home aquariums—females signal readiness through pheromones, then brood eggs beneath their tail until they hatch into shrimplets. As they grow, they molt repeatedly and require mineral sources like cuttlebone or mineral balls to rebuild their exoskeletons, especially after introduction to new environments.
Due to their small size and lack of defenses, keep Blueberry shrimp in invertebrate-only tanks or with fish too large to view them as prey. Their fry are extremely vulnerable and need dense hiding spots. With a 1–2 year lifespan, they thrive best as colonies rather than solitary specimens. Allow 3–12 months for a generation to mature before introducing compatible fish.
Our Blueberry shrimp are domestically bred at our facility, ensuring superior health and color consistency compared to imported stock. Their vibrant blue contrasts beautifully against green and red plants. We also offer B-grade specimens from the same genetic line—they may show color or pattern variation, but breeding them often yields both premium and B-grade offspring.
