*Float the sealed bag in your tank for 20-30 minutes to match the temperature. Then, open the bag and slowly add small amounts of tank water every 5–10 minutes for about 30 minutes. After that, gently net the fish into the tank (don’t pour the bag water in). This helps reduce stress and prevent shock.

The Red Head Tapajos is a colorful Geophagus fish from Brazil’s Rio Tapajos. Both males and females have bright orange-red heads, with males showing more vivid colors and fin details. They need soft sand or mud to feed safely by sifting through the substrate. Preferring warm, acidic water with natural botanicals, they do best in groups and are peaceful. This species is relatively easy to breed, making it a great choice for experienced hobbyists.
