Red Rili Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi)

Red Rili Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) are hardy, peaceful freshwater dwarf shrimp prized for their vibrant red coloring and translucent bodies. Selectively bred from Red Cherry Shrimp, they feature distinctive solid red heads and tails that stand out in planted tanks. These active algae eaters excel as natural cleaners in established aquascapes, making them ideal for invertebrate-focused setups and community tanks without predatory fish.

Neocaridina shrimp are delicate and lack natural defenses against predation, making them unsuitable tank mates for fish large enough to consume them—including their shrimplets. Keep them in invertebrate-only setups until at least one generation reaches adulthood (3 months to 1 year), allowing your colony to establish before introducing any fish. Their vulnerability and short lifespan of 1–2 years make them best suited for group living rather than solitary keeping.
