Threadfin Acara
CAPTIVE BRED
Threadfin acaras are large, colorful South American cichlids known for their calm nature except during spawning. Males have bright red and blue colors with unique thread-like fins. They live in warm, soft, acidic water with sandy bottoms and eat both plants and meat. These fish form pairs, with females preparing spawning sites, and become territorial when breeding. A 90-gallon tank suits a pair, while larger tanks are needed for community setups. They adapt well to captivity but should not be kept with fin-nipping fish to protect their delicate fins.
